Current Readings for Kitty Brewster Station, Blyth Current Readings for station outside the Library

Welcome

This website is intended to be an online resource of near real-time and periodic (monthly) air quality data, not only for Blyth Valley Borough residents, but also for students and medical health professionals alike. Using the various pages and features of this site you can view and interpret almost real-time air quality data from the automatic and continuous monitoring stations located at Seaton Delaval Council Offices, outside the Library in the Blyth Town Centre and at the West Entrance of Kitty Brewster. The website also provides access to data from seventeen periodic monitoring locations updated as monthly results. Nitrogen dioxide levels are monitored at these locations using a technique called passive diffusion tubes.

Data from the continuous monitoring stations is uploaded on an hourly basis to provide the latest readings. The pollutants monitored at each location are listed under the details for each site. All parameters that are included on this site can be plotted on a graph and printed out. Visitors to the website can register their email details and data for the selected parameters from each site will be forwarded by email. The system can generate email alerts if a user-selected parameter exceeds a predefined value. This facility may be of benefit for those who are predisposed to suffer the effects of poor air quality. (eg Asthma sufferers).
